B2C Jewelry Show in Eastern China Attracts Wealthy Buyers


About a thousand high-net-worth consumers attended the Treasures Hangzhou jewelry fair, held October 24 - 26 at the Hyatt Regency Hangzhou, according to Hong Kong based Asian exhibition and publishing company, UBM Asia

The jewelry show, held at the second-tier city of Hangzhou, about 150 km from Shanghai, was aimed at China’s "sophisticated jewelry consumers, private collectors and high-end jewelry retailers," UBM Asia said in a statement.

The jewelry show was UBM Asia’s first attempt at producing a business-to-consumer jewelry fair in China. The company said second-tier cities is where the jewelry market in China is showing strong potential.

“The rapid growth of China’s economy is producing a lot of high-end consumers here that are eager to enjoy a better lifestyle by snapping up luxury goods including exquisite jewelry,” said Joe Ho, UBM Asia’s deputy Jewellery Fairs manager for China.

The new show featured over 30 high-end jewelry exhibitors from five countries and regions (China, Sri Lanka, Switzerland, Hong Kong and Taiwan), who brought with them a variety of jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, lustrous pearls and jadeite jewelry.

Ho said promotion activities for the show included going directly to financial institutions and private clubs.

“We invited their VIP customers and organized tailor-made seminars on topics that cover the essentials in collecting and investing in high-end jewelry products, which they undoubtedly found attractive,” he said.

30% Increase in Customers at Treasures Hangzhou Jewelry Fair


The second edition of Treasures Hangzhou ended with a 30 percent increase in visitors, according to UBM Asia, who owns and operates the high-end jewelry show for consumers.

More than 1,200 high-net-worth consumers attended the three-day event at the Hyatt Regency Hangzhou, in eastern China near Shanghai.

“The increase in attendance numbers is certainly encouraging because it not only confirmed the strength of the high-end jewelry market in Eastern China, but also the healthy development of the Hangzhou Fair,” commented Joe Ho, UBM Asia’s Deputy Jewellery Fairs Manager for China.

Treasures Hangzhou is jointly organized by UBM China Holdings Limited, UBM China (Guangzhou) Co Ltd, the Jewelry Jade Industry Association of Zhejiang and Beijing San Arts Import & Export Co Ltd. 

The fair provides a platform where consumers can purchase jewelry and gemstones from suppliers from various parts of the world. It featured about 30 high-end jewelry exhibitors from five countries and regions, namely: China, Hong Kong region, Sri Lanka, Taiwan region and Thailand. The exhibitors brought with them jewelry, diamonds, gemstones, pearls and jadeite jewelry.

During the fair, professional seminars were to held on jadeite and high-end jewelry, which including jewelry investment opportunities.

Miami Beach Antique Jewelry & Watch Show This Weekend

As the weather gets cooler in most places sunny Miami Beach looks all the more welcoming, especially for a last-minute trip. A good excuse to go this weekend is the annual Miami Beach Antique Jewelry & Watch Show, which opens Friday and runs till Sunday at the Miami Beach Convention Center, Hall B.

The show, which has been held in Miami Beach for 18 years, features antique, vintage and estate jewelry and watch collections—showcasing popular trends in jewelry and watch design. More than 100 dealers from all over the world will be displaying a range of products for antique jewelry and watch collectors as well as many celebrities and socialites. Attendees will have the opportunity to view and purchase brooches, cameos, earrings, necklaces, rare jewels and gemstones, signed designer pieces, and timepieces.

Show hours are from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Sunday. There is a one-time admission fee of $15, valid for all three days of the show.

Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair – September is Set to Begin

Asia’s Fashion Jewellery & Accessories Fair – September (9FJ) will be held from September 15 - 18 at the AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong. It will feature suppliers showcasing a range of novel and chic fashion jewelry and accessories as well as classic bestsellers. Buyers from around the world can preview and acquire fashion jewelry and accessories for Spring/Summer 2015 long before they make it to retailers.


The fair, which runs alongside the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair, occupies 11,360 square meters of exhibition space and will house more than 410 exhibitors. Among them are companies from mainland China, France, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Thailand, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United States, United Arab Emirates and Hong Kong and Taiwan regions. Nearly 80 percent of exhibitors are from outside Hong Kong, fully embodying the fair’s international status.

Visitors to the accessories fair can update their admission for free access to the September Hong Kong Fair, giving them a chance to explore business opportunities for both fairs, which are owned and operated by UBM Asia.

“(It) is one of the most popular marketplaces for buyers from around the world to preview trends for the coming Spring/Summer. Each year, the fair builds a high-efficiency business platform for the exhibitors and buyers to conduct business with each other and explore opportunities,” said Celine Lau, director of Jewellery Fairs at UBM Asia Ltd.

In addition, there are five group pavilions from mainland China, India, Korea, the Philippines and Taiwan region; and an expanded Stainless Steel Jewellery Pavilion, housing more than 40 exhibitors.

9FJ will be held alongside the world’s biggest fine jewellery fair, the September Hong Kong Jewellery & Gem Fair.

UBM Asia’s Shenzhen Fair Sets Attendance Record

The 12th edition of the China International Gold, Jewellery & Gem Fair – Shenzhen (held February 26 – March 1) welcomed 12,828 unique visitors from 76 countries and regions, up 103.5 percent from last year, according to UBM Asia, which organizes the annual jewelry trade fair at the Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center. The total number of visits (including revisits) rose by 90.2 percent to 14,620. 

Celine Lau, UBM Asia director of Jewellery Fairs, attributed the dramatic increase in visitor traffic to the repositioning of the fair as a multi-faceted platform. 

“In this edition, we strategically re-positioned the Fair as a multi-facetted platform to launch new products, get the latest market intelligence, build brands and source new products," she said.

UBM Asia added that it enhanced visitor promotion, helping boost the number of quality buyers. It invited large-scale local retailers in mainland China to source in the fair as well as trade buyer delegations. The trade buyer delegations included members of Chinese jewelry associations, provinces and cities from Guangdong, Tianjing, Sichuan, Dalian, Jiangxi and Taizhou.

Media coverage of the fair by the 140-plus local and overseas media representatives also played a role in boosting visitor numbers, the organizers said. 

Nearly 400 exhibitors from 13 countries and regions, including Belgium, mainland China, Finland, Germany, Hong Kong region, India, Japan, Korea, Sri Lanka, Taiwan region, Thailand, United Arab Emirates and USA, attended the fair this year.

Mainland Chinese visitors totaled 11,269 from 31 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities of mainland China. The top 5 sources of local visitors were Guangdong, followed by Zhejiang, Shanghai, Beijing and Shandong.

Visitors from overseas and Hong Kong region reached 1,559, up around 40 percent year-over-year. Sources of the top 10 buyers (excluding mainland China and Hong Kong region) were India, followed by Taiwan, USA, Russian Federation, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, Korea, Australia, Canada and Italy.
